Directors of The Mighty Marching Bucks
The Mighty Marching Bucks was founded in 2008 by Mr. Charles M. Conner, Mrs. Joan P. Conner, and Mr. James M. McCarty. Since the year of 2008 the band has gained a tradition of excellence, musicality, performance skills and attention locally, nationally, and internationally. The Band Program at Hoke County High School as a whole consists of about 140 individuals. Known as the MMB; other monikers include the "Big Red Band" and "The Red Jukebox of Sound". The Hoke County High School department of instrumental music takes great pride in versatile & dedicated staff that works with the children of the Hoke County School System. Mr. Charles M. Conner served as the Director of Bands and Associate Director of Choirs at Hoke County High School. He is a graduate of Fayetteville State University; however, he spent the majority of his college career at the North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. He is a graduate of Westover Senior High School (2000). Mr. Conner holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education.
Mr. DeVon Pickett now serves as the Director of Bands at Hoke County High School. He is a graduate of the illustrious Fayetteville State University where he recieved a degree in Music Education. Before serving at Hoke County HIgh School as the Director of Bands, Mr. Pickett was the Director of bands at Sandy Grove Middle School in Raeford, North Carolina and Percussion instructor for the MMB.
