Frequently Asked Questions
Band Camp
Is band camp required to be in the marching band?
Yes! Each and every member of the marching band must attend band camp from start to finish on the days presented in the official MMB Band Hand Book.
Do I have to have a physical to participate in the marching band?
Yes! Each and every student must have a current physical on file with the director of bands before he or she will be allowed to participate in any band related activities.
What if I do not have my own instrument, may I still attend band camp?
Yes, but we have very limited school own instruments available and will be provided on a first come first serve basis. It is very important that if you do not own an instrument that you rent one for the duration of the academic school year (with the exception of Sousaphones, Marching Euphoniums, and Marching Percussion instruments).
Band Fee's
Are Band Fee's required and when are they due?
Yes! A $200 Band Fee is required from every member of the marching band. This covers each members required items for the season. Band fee's are due at the parent meeting on August 2nd!
What are band fee's for?
Band fee's are for the purchase of required band items used by each member of the marching band.
Ex: Band Shoes, Spats, Shorts, Shirt, etc... They are also used to help the "Band Wagon" Band Booster Organization with various items throughout the season.
Academics, Band Practice, and Performances.
Do I have to have good grades to be in the band?
Yes! The overall goal of the band program is to build young individuals into well rounded students and musicians in and outside of the classroom. The band program regulary checks grades and requires progress reports to insure that each of its members are progressing in each of their classes.
Are all practices & performances mandatory?
Yes! Each and every member of the band is required to attend each scheduled practice and performances. If an emergency takes places then it is expected to notify the director of bands as soon as possible.
Will I be allowed to attend tutoring after school?
Yes! It is the responsibility of each student to notify the director of bands if he/she is planning to attend tutoring after school at least 24 hours before the tutoring session. Students are expected to bring a valid note back to the director of bands prior to returning to practice.
